With his descending route over the first 9 kilometers then with very little difference in altitude until the finish line, the organizer of the Edinburgh marathon allows you to put all the chances on your side to achieve your objective whatever it may be. On all the events offered during the weekend, nearly 16,000 participants present themselves at the starting line every year, which places this marathon just behind that of London in the United Kingdom.

For the start of the Edinburgh marathon, you will have the opportunity to visit Potterrow right next to the beautiful University of Edinburgh, one of the oldest in the world. The first kilometers are devoted to discovering the city and its most beautiful monuments such as the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle or Holyrood Palace. Afterwards, you run along the Scottish coasts enjoying the best nature has to offer and can see the famous Arthurs Seat & Salisbury Crags. After reaching the village of Alberlady, you will return along the coast to arrive at the end of the 42.195km in the town of Musselburgh.

Congratulations ! You will then receive a Finisher t-shirt and a medal. All we have to do is enjoy your victory by going to the restaurant or with our group.

You prefer a shorter distance! No worries, you will be able to take part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon. THE start and finish lines are located at the same location as the marathon. Accompanists will therefore be able to benefit from the departures and arrivals of the 2 races if they wish. Note that the supplies for the 2 races consist of water and gel. So don’t hesitate to supplement them with any cereal bars or sugar.

If you prefer to stay in the city center, you will have the possibility to run the 10 or 5kms which take place on Saturday mornings in the center of Holyrood Park : a superb green setting with the magnificent city of Edinburgh as a backdrop. No doubt, the organizers have made sure to satisfy all the wishes of the athletes.
