Marathon presentation
Enjoy a unique stay in South Africa to discover the wonders of this country and run one of the superb races (Cape Town marathon or other) scheduled for October 15 and 16. The organizers of the event offer you a weekend entirely focused on sport. Everyone will find a test adapted to what they want. It is for these reasons that the organizers of the marathon and other races count nearly 10,000 runners : 9000 on the road and 1000 on the trails (the number of trail runners in the national park being limited to 1000 runners).
We start on October 15 with the 5 and 10 km on the road. The courses take place in the city center with departures and arrivals in the neighborhood of Green Point. These 2 races are intended to be open to as many people as possible with particularly comfortable time limits.
On this same day, you also have the opportunity to cstart one of the 2 trails of 22 or 46 km. You will appreciate it, regardless of the effort required 😉, every kilometer spent in the famous Table Mountain National Park offering you a panoramic view of the entire city opening onto the Atlantic. It’s a treat for runners who love the great outdoors and nature. Of numerous species of fauna and flora observed on this trail cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. For the 46 km, an elevation gain of 2200 m awaits you, runners will set off from Cape Town Stadium above the city through flora, fauna and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. For the 22 km, the elevation difference offered to you is 830m. The start is at the same place for both trails. Once your effort is finished, you will return to the Green Point neighborhood to cross the finish line.
THE Sunday will give way to the marathon whose circuit is planned in the city center of Cape Town. It's about largest marathon on the African continent. You will benefit from the sporting welcome of this country. The 42.2km Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is a prestigious global city race open to a range of running enthusiasts. Along the route, you will discover Cape Town's famous natural mountain range, the Atlantic Ocean, as well as many of the city's attractions, from street art to the statue of Madiba at city hall, including the hustle and bustle of Woodstock. The different districts of the city will no longer hold any secrets for you.
Logistically, you will need to collect your bib directly from the marathon exhibition and other races on Friday and Saturday. It is located at Cape Town Stadium. Refreshments will be provided along the routes. Details will be communicated later. A T-shirt and a finisher medal will be given to you at the end of your sporting challenge.
For the rest of your stay, we have planned for you a circuit so that this region no longer has any secrets for you. You will have the opportunity to discover the city of Cape Town but also its peninsula and its unique fauna and flora, the history of its country and the impact of Nelson Mandela, a musical and taste cultural discovery or even the possibility of meeting animals specific to the African continent during a safari. City Lodge Waterfront***
For a big city like Cape Town, we have youselected a hotel at the crossroads of all points of interest which will punctuate your stay: the City Lodge Waterfront***. In 30min walk you can reach the start and finish areas of the different races. If you prefer, taxis are quite accessible in South Africa.
Located in the Waterfront district, you will enjoy walks along the quays overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, you will also be at the limits other areas of the city such as the economic city center or Bo-Kaap and its colorful buildings. You will be able to vary your nighttime visits.
You will benefit from your breakfast directly at the hotel. In addition to the comfort of the rooms, you will appreciate its gym or swimming poole to recover from your effort or even its bar with its view of the sunset.
To make your African experience complete, we offer one night in Aquila Reserve at Karro Cattages. You will enjoy the soothing atmosphere that emanates from this environment. You will enjoy the rustic charm of this cottage on the edge of the reserve. It has a bathroom in addition to an outdoor shower. A real change of scenery in this unique environment while benefiting from paths allowing you to easily access the main building and the services they offer such as its restaurant. Meals ranging from lunch on the day of your arrival to breakfast the next day are included.
