Registration is closed! Want to run the 2025 Venice Marathon? We offer a program that allows you to enjoy the city of Venice while participating in its iconic marathon. You’ll know you’re getting closer to the finish line as you finish in the sublime streets of Venice. Prefer a shorter distance? In addition to the 10 km, the organization now offers the half marathon.
Participating in the Venice Marathon means first running a portion of the 42.195 km course in the beautiful region surrounding the city. The route will then take you to the most romantic city in the world. You’ll be cheered on by crowds of spectators and tourists surprised to see St. Mark’s Square crossed by a mass of runners. It’s this surprising blend of a major race in a place of culture and charm that gives the Venice Marathon its uniqueness.
The starting line will be located in the town of Stra, in the gardens of Villa Pisani, which is exceptionally open to marathon runners on this day. The route will take you along the Riviera del Brenta, lined with numerous typical Venetian villas. You will continue your effort through the city centers of Marghera and Mestre to reach San Giuliano Park. You will cross the famous Ponte della Libertà, a 4-km long bridge that leads into Venice. After passing the port of Venice, you will enter the city center via the Canale della Giudecca. A floating bridge, specially built for the occasion, will allow you to cross the Grand Canal. After reaching Piazza San Marco, you will see the Doge’s Palace and reach the finish line at Riva Sette Martiri, where your finisher’s medal will await you. Generally speaking, the marathon course is fairly flat, although there are a few bridges to cross, particularly in Venice.
Logistically, the organizers plan water stops every 5 km. Cakes, fruit, and energy drinks will be available starting at the 20th kilometer. A locker room will allow you to drop off your personal belongings and collect them at the finish line. Shuttles are available for runners to reach the start area. The same applies after crossing the finish line to reach Mestre. You can participate as a competitor if you have a French athletics license or an Italian RunCard (€15), as well as a medical certificate in Italian format. If necessary, we can help you obtain your RunCard. If you are not an Italian resident, you can participate as a non-competitor. You will have access to the same services, but will not be ranked by time, but in alphabetical order. A certificate must then be signed at the latest when picking up your race numbers at the marathon expo.
If you prefer a shorter distance, the marathon organizers have planned, for the first time, a half-marathon, the course of which has yet to be determined. Please note that as this is a trial run, places are extremely limited for this distance. If you prefer, a 10km race is available. It corresponds to the last kilometers of the marathon, starting from Mestre to the center of Venice.
The Venice Marathon and its other races will leave you speechless. Unique races in a unique setting!
