Marathon Overview

The Florence Marathon is Italy’s second largest marathon after Rome. With more than 10,000 registered runners, the Firenze Marathon has attracted runners from all over the world, who enjoy the splendors of this city with its typical Renaissance architecture as they strive to achieve their best performance.

You’ll be captivated by its start and finish in the heart of the city, on the famous Piazza Duomo. You’ll enjoy a route steeped in history, passing by landmarks such as the Cathedral Square, Piazza della Signoria, and the ever-popular Ponte Vecchio. This will also be an opportunity to discover the surrounding hills and countryside, offering a beautiful glimpse of the Tuscan region.

With the exception of a few sections, the Florence Marathon course is fairly flat and fast, which is appreciated by the athletes who choose this race. The warm atmosphere and the crowds of supporters lining the course will help you achieve your goal.

Travel with Planet Tours and benefit from the advice of our team of passionate athletes, whether for the race or for exploring the city. We guarantee race numbers for all marathon runners.

Why run the Florence Marathon with Planet-Tours?

As with the Rome Marathon, the Firenze Marathon requires certain Italian administrative prerequisites: an Italian FFA (French Athletics Federation) license or RunCard, plus a medical certificate meeting Italian standards. Without a license, you run as an “unranked” runner, receiving the same services and aid stations, but ranked alphabetically, not by time. Planet-Tours explains these procedures in detail and will assist you to ensure you are compliant on race day.

Our package includes: direct flight from Paris Orly to Florence on Friday morning (returning Monday evening), 3 nights at the Hotel Roma ★★★★ in the heart of the historic center, 550 meters from Piazza del Duomo, buffet breakfasts, airport/hotel transfers, and support from our running team on site. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Ponte Vecchio and 5 minutes from Piazza della Signoria, perfect for exploring Florence before and after the race.

The Florence Marathon takes place in December, an ideal time: the cool Italian weather is conducive to performance, the winter light on the monuments is magnificent, and the crowds are smaller. Planet-Tours offers Florence without the hassle.
